North Star Reach
Strategic Growth Group assisted North Star Reach, a residential camp for children with serious health challenges, to develop a strategy to strengthen its organizational structure and enhance its social impact.
While camp programs have been recognized by child development professionals as valuable in helping children mature socially, emotionally, intellectually, morally, and physically, many parents, medical professionals, and funders, may view camp as a discretionary activity, rather than an essential intervention.
Serious physical health challenges in childhood can result in negative socio-emotional outcomes, including isolation, dependency, poor peer relationship, stress, and anxiety. If unaddressed, the consequences include higher rates of unemployment, lower rates of marriage and cohabitation, increased risk-taking behaviors, and poor health outcomes. Due to a host of barriers, typical solutions include support groups, advocacy, and online tools. Unfortunately, these solutions do not generally offer a person-centered approach that creates sustained behavior change.
As modern medicine starts to embrace the importance of integrated care (whole person health), North Star Reach is uniquely positioned to promote its programming as a means of improving socio-emotional well-being and thus, physical health, for children with serious health challenges.
Regretfully, the cost of providing such services carries a heavy financial burden, though the consequences of not doing so, can create great personal and societal hardship. By showcasing the outcomes of its programs, North Star Reach is well-suited to create a host of collaborative funding partners. In addition, by monetizing its unparalleled physical assets, North Star Reach can create much needed subsidy to stabilize and scale its unique program offerings.
